FCS students in 3K – 5th grade participated in Elementary Missions Emphasis Chapel services Monday through Wednesday of this week. Elementary Chaplain, Miss Deborah Warner, organized three very special services for the students.
On Monday, Miss Rita from Operation Christmas Child spoke to the students about the shoeboxes many at FCS are providing for children around the world. Miss Rita gave ideas of what kinds of items to include in the boxes. The treasures and personal letters inside each box communicate that someone cares for them and give them an opportunity to experience the love of God.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Becky Padron, FCS 5K Teacher, shared about a mission trip she went on this summer to Haiti. Mrs. Padron and a group from her church visited Williamson, Haiti, located north of Port-au-Prince. They worked at an orphanage conducting a vacation Bible school for a week.
The Elementary Choir, made up of 3rd-6th graders, sang for our students on Tuesday. The choir performed two songs during the service: “Sisi Sote” (“All of Us”), sung in Swahili, and “When I Close My Eyes”.
On Wednesday, Miss Warner introduced the students to the story of Jim Elliott and 4 other missionaries who worked in Ecuador in Operation Auca, evangelizing the Huaorani people of Ecuador.
What a blessing for our students to learn the importance of missions!
