Ransom Everglades Volleyball Coach Mauricio Diaz is well-known among South Florida schools for his volleyball coaching abilities. He led Southwest High boys to state titles in 2003 and 2008 and helped Ransom Everglades girls become state champions in 2013. Coach Diaz was diagnosed with a Stage 2 brain tumor in August and is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow, Oct. 9th. Several schools have decided to donate proceeds of upcoming games to help Diaz. The FCS Lady Patriots attended a benefit volleyball game played on Oct. 1st at Ransom Everglades where all of the proceeds were donated towards Coach Diaz’s medical expenses. Our students wore t-shirts that read, “FCS Wears Grey for Coach Diaz. Support Brain Cancer Research” and cheered the teams on as Ransom played against St. Brendan. Thanks to Coach Lauren Beers and Coach Beth King for sharing this news with us.
Please pray for Coach Diaz as he undergoes surgery, and for him and his family as he recovers. God bless you, Coach Diaz! The FCS Patriots are with you in prayer!
