God's Simple Plan of Salvation
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is Good News!
There is a lot of bad news associated with religion in today's world. It is good to know that real Christianity is not about religion; it is about knowing Jesus Christ. Religion is mostly about man trying to get to God. Christianity is about God coming down to man. The Good News is found in the Gospel.
The Good News begins with...
knowing that man is separated from God by sin. The Bible says that "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. In other words, we can't relate to God because of our sin. Sin is a personal choice each person makes not to obey God.
Understanding the consequences of sin are death and judgment. Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death." Hebrews 9:27 says, "Man is destined to die once, and after that the judgment." Left to ourselves we have no hope. We can never enter the presence of God.
The Good News is what God has done...
Jesus, who is God in human flesh, came to this earth in order to offer himself as a sacrifice for sin. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life," John 3:16. Jesus died in our place to pay for our sin. He received the punishment we deserve.
The Good News is that we have the opportunity...
to relate to God by accepting what Jesus has done for us. John 1:12 says "To all who receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God." Accepting Christ is a step of faith, it is trusting in what Jesus has already done on the cross.
If you have never expressed to God your complete trust in His plan, why not do it right now. You might pray a prayer something like this...
Dear God...I know I am a sinner...I know my sin will keep me from knowing you. I know my sin will keep me from heaven...I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sins...I trust Jesus as my Savior ..I know that it is only through Him that I can go to heaven...Thank you for paying for my sin and giving me a home in heaven...
