Florida Christian School offers choir for elementary, middle school, and senior high students. These groups are featured in concert at FCS for the Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Concert, Pre-Evaluation Concert and Spring Concert, as well as singing at charitable and community events around the city, including Miami Children’s Hospital and the Rotary Club of Coral Gables. As members of the Florida Vocal Association (FVA), FCS students participate in annual District and State solo, ensemble, and choral evaluations each year.
FCS choral students also participate in the annual Florida Vocal Association All State auditions and represent the school at the All State Concerts at the FMEA Conference in Tampa. Middle School and Elementary choirs compete in the annual FACCS Fine Arts competition. High school students have sung at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Candlelight Ceremony at Disney’s EPCOT, and have toured Europe with the Florida Ambassadors of Music. Middle school students perform at the City Walk Plaza stage at Universal Studios.
Middle and high school participate and have been selected as grand champions at the annual Junior Orange Bowl Caroling Competition. The choral department is directed by Barbara Kingman and Jeannine Stemmer.
